Lelo IDA Wave Vs SORAYA Wave
The sex toy industry has never been so vibrant – with one of our preferred manufacturers, Lelo, helping really push those self pleasure boundaries to new levels in recent years.
Today we are comparing two of their most exciting female toys – the SORAYA Wave and the IDA Wave – as we look at the key features of each and look to help you determine which one is best for your own needs – or indeed if it’s worth owning one of each.
This Lelo IDA Wave Vs Lelo SORAYA Wave comparison comes to you (pardon the pun) after a few weeks of testing each product – both in solo situations and as couple play.
The Lelo IDA Wave
Both of these Lelo models feature something the company calls ‘Wave Motion Technology’ – hence the ‘Wave’ part of the name they share. This is supposed to replicate a finger-like motion (Lelo’s words not ours), and this is pretty much where the similarities end between these two models.
The IDA Wave is like the SORAYA Wave’s smaller sister, but that doesn’t mean it packs any less of a punch. It measures up at 2.5 x 2.2 x 3.7 inches and weighs just 102g. It is app controlled and connects via bluetooth as the IDA Wave is supposed to sit inside you as you receive double motor pleasure from the insertable head as well as the clitoris stimulation from the external vibration.
There are 10 intensity settings to choose from and it will last for around 2 hours on a full charge – so there is no rush with this toy.
Like all Lelo toys, the IDA Wave is made from high quality, super soft silicone that feels lovely to the touch.

The Lelo SORAYA Wave
The SORAYA Wave is Lelo’s latest version of a rabbit vibrator (of Sex And The City fame) – although this version by Lelo is leaps and bounds ahead of where the technology was back then. If the IDA Wave is the little sister, then the SORAYA Wave is the experienced big sister that looks a little more intimidating but is actually incredibly beginner friendly.
Again, using Wave Motion Technology, the SORAYA Wave is a follow on and much improved version of the SORAYA 2. With an insertable length of 4.3 inches, the SORAYA Wave measures up at 8.58 x 2.83 x 1.81 inches in total and weighs in at 185g. So it’s fair to say it is a good way more substantial than the IDA Wave. The external clit stimulator is a little more targeted than the external vibrations you get with the IDA Wave – and it features some impressive vibration patterns of its own.
But it’s the insertable section that really sets it apart as it not only vibrates but also moves back and forth. Lelo call it double stimulation but I’d probably go as far to say it is stimulation on three fronts.
It takes just 2 hours to fully charge and lasts for 2 hours so again, there is no need to rush when using the SORAYA Wave.
There is no app for this toy, so it’s nice and simple to use with three buttons – one that controls the pattern and two that control the intensity (up and down).
There are 8 patterns in total, one of which is used for just the clitoral stimulation which is a good way to start or finish. More on what it’s like to use shortly.

Using Both The IDA Wave and SORAYA Wave
Having used both the IDA Wave and the SORAYA Wave 4 times each, I have to say I do love both toys. Both allowed me to reach an orgasm quickly, and both allowed me to build up more slowly and have multiple orgasms when I wanted that.
However, it’s not quite as simple as just basing a verdict on how many orgasms you have, rather the intensity and the feeling of each toy and how you incorporate it in to the bedroom is just as important.
How you reach orgasm is important and whether you want to use the toy on your own or with a partner – or both – is also worth considering.
Both of these toys are great when used solo – there is absolutely no disputing that. The IDA Wave requires the app to enjoy to the full, whereas the SORAYA wave is really easy to use right out of the box.
Both feature internal and external stimulation – with the SORAYA going a fair bit deeper than the IDA wave in the internal stimulation department.
I really enjoyed taking my time with the IDA Wave, but the one time I was in a rush I was able to climax very quickly – within 90 seconds or so – so kind of quick yes, it’s that good. But the same can be said for the SORAYA Wave. I had a quick orgasm using this too.
For me, the intensity of the SORAYA Wave was right up there from the first orgasm. Whereas with the IDA Wave, I felt I was able to keep going and enjoy orgasm after orgasm with the intensity building with each one. The SORAYA Wave, I found this harder to achieve as the first one was so intense.
It may be that I just need to spend a little more time getting to know the SORAYA Wave and really find the right pattern and intensity level for me. The online instructions are not that detailed in terms of what each pattern does, and it’s worth spending some time testing the various patterns without using it – so you can physically see and feel exactly what the SORAYA Wave is doing before actually using it.
It’s really easy to use. But the IDA Wave is easier as you can see on the app exactly what you are doing. You can also go hands free a little easier with the IDA Wave, whereas the weight of the SORAYA Wave means you need to be a little more hands on.
Couple Play With Both Toys
I asked my hubby to use both toys (over the course of two separate sessions) and his first impressions of both toys was positive. However, upon asking him afterwards which he preferred, it was very much the SORAYA Wave.
The reason he gave me for this was that he was more involved whereas he felt less connected to me with the IDA Wave as he was having to use the app and although he found it a lot of fun to control my pleasure this way, it was less intimate. Whereas with the SORAYA Wave, he was up close and personal – physically controlling the patterns, the intensity and the placement of the toy.
For once – I tend to agree with him on this front. The app kind of gets in the way when you are using the IDA Wave with a partner – it takes the fun and intimacy away.
We used both as foreplay and both as a finisher for me – and I have to say, I was not left disappointed with either session and had multiple (3-4) orgasms both times. My hubby loved it.

Who Are They Aimed At?
Both the SORAYA Wave and the IDA Wave are premium sex toys. It is unlikely you are going to splash out on both at the same time – and so for most people it will be an either/or decision.
In an ideal world you would own both. But, I realize that most people reading this review will want some guidance on which is best for them.
If you using the toy solo each and every time – then I’d say it depends on whether you want the control in the palm of your hand (with the app) or whether you are happy to be more hands on and control it from the toy itself. If however, you are planning to use it solo and with a partner then my experience would make me suggest you opt for the SORAYA Wave.
Some people hate apps and sex toys. They see a mobile phone as just another unneeded complication in what should be a very simple experience. Others love them. So this is going to be a big deciding factor.
The SORAYA Wave is a little more costly than the IDA Wave, but I think the extra is worth it. If you like highly intense orgasms (let’s be honest – who doesn’t) then the SORAYA Wave is a great option. I’m also pretty convinced I could learn to build up slower with it if I had a bit more time with it (which I will for sure by the way).
Verdict
Both the SORAYA Wave and the IDA Wave are top end sex toys that deliver in almost every way. Waterproof – check. Well made – check. Multiple orgasm inducing – check.
It really comes down to how you intend to use it and whether you see the bluetooth app control as a positive or a complication. If you like the simplicity of on board controls – then go for the SORAYA, if you like the idea of the app – go for the IDA.
I will be keeping (and using) both. But if I had to choose one over the other then the SORAYA Wave would have it by a smidge.
